The Residence Zanzibar

 

Opening April 2011, The Residence Zanzibar will sit in isolated splendour on the south west coast of the island, close to the village of Kizimkazi. A member of Leading Hotels of the World, it will open with 65 one and two bedroom villas and an impressive Presidential Villa. Set in 80 acres of tropical gardens - home to the rare red Colobus monkey - and along a mile stretch of soft white sand flanked by tall coconut palms, each spacious villa will have a private pool, 24 hour personal butler service and views over the beautiful gardens or beach.

The architecture and interiors of The Residence Zanzibar draw their inspiration from the many influences in Zanzibar’s rich cultural history, where Africa, India and Arabia meet. Simple, airy and contemporary, the feel will be casual elegance; sumptuous and sophisticated. The Spa, featuring Carita products, has six individual pavilions offering a sense of tranquility and will showcase the world renowned “Ohashiatsu” from New York. The two restaurants will provide a heady mix of Zanzibar “spice” and European expertise, while the two bars take guests on a nostalgic journey through Africa to trace the path of Dr Livingstone.
