Le Pavillon des Lettres, Paris

Le Pavillon des Lettres – an impossibly chic retreat for anyone who loves art and literature - and a subtle alternative to the city’s traditional 5-star hotels.

Sharing the same owner and designer as its sister hotel, Le Pavillon de la Reine on the Place des Vosges, with just 26 rooms - each one dedicated to a writer - from Andersen (Hans Christian) to Zola (Emile). There are no room numbers here, just a letter on the door. iPads replace traditional room directories – uploaded with books, daily newspaper and playlists. Perfect for the British Embassy and a spot of retail therapy.
